Frances M. Crandall McGonigle Reed, 77, Kansas City, MO passed away Monday, September 30, 2013.
Visitation will be from 10:00-11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 5, 2013 at Speaks Suburban Chapel; 18020 E. 39th St., Independence, MO. Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Mt. Washington Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the First Presbyterian Church of Independence, MO or the Della Lamb Community Services.
Frances was born June 23, 1936 in Springfield, MO the daughter of Carl Eugene and May Anna (Andrews) Crandall. She worked as a waitress most of her life with Don’s World of Beef, Waid’s Restaurant and retired from Englewood Café in the mid 80’s. Frances also worked part-time with Della Lamb Community Services. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Independence. Frances was known to her grandchildren as “Grandma Frannie”, she enjoyed crossword and jigsaw puzzles, emailing family and friends and was a staunch Democrat and Presbyterian.
Survivors include her daughter, Judy McGonigle Akers; granddaughter, Melinda Kaye Marie Akers; brother, Dwight Eugene Crandall and his wife Barbara; and additional nieces, nephews, family and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Emmett Reed in 1998; daughter, Katherine Ann McGonigle Hall; sisters, Virginia Ann Crandall Huffman, Kathryn Weber; and her parents.
