HELEN REED
Helen Reed, 79, of Independence, MO was taken by the Angels on Thursday, September 12th 2013, surrounded by her family. A visitation will be held from 1-3 p.m. Sunday, September 15th at Carson Speaks Chapel. A graveside service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday September 16th at Mount Olivet Cemetery, Raytown, MO.
Helen was born June 24th 1934 in Garland, KS to William Hamilton, Sr. and Mary (Lockner) as one of six children. She attended high school in Arcadia, KS. Helen married Jim Reed on August 13th 1955. She worked for Sears & Roebuck, Southwestern Bell as switch board operator and later retired from Lucent Technologies. Even in her retirement, she worked for the UMKC Dental school. Helen and Jim were members of St. Mark’s Parish for many decades. She enjoyed her family time; especially holidays and also enjoyed studying her genealogy and ancestry. Helen is loved by her family and will be dearly missed.
She is survived by daughter, Kim Reed; son, Jim Reed (Jackie) of Independence, MO; grandchildren, Shane Patrick (Dena) of Kansas City North, MO; Samantha Steidl of Independence, MO; great grandchildren, Skylar Leibold, and Eric Patrick; sister, Wilma Kleuver (John) of Kansas City, MO; brother, Robert Hamilton (LuAnne) of Bartlesville, OK; brother, William Hamilton, Jr. of Garland, KS; sister, Elizabeth Bach of Sebewaing, MI. She was greeted in Heaven by her beloved husband and grandson, Shaun Patrick. The family encourages contributions to American Cancer Association and American Heart Association in her memory.
