Sammie Reed

Sammie Charles Reed, 67 of Independence, MO, went home to be with the Lord, Tuesday, May 17, 2011. Services will be at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, May 21, 2011 at the Soul’s Harbour Assembly of God 17142 E 39th Street South Independence, MO 64055-3867. The family will greet friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Friday, May 20, 2011 at the Speaks Suburban Chapel 18020 E. 39th St., Independence, MO 64055. Donations may be made to Soul’s Harbour Assembly of God Church. Sammie was born August 22, 1943 in Anderson, MO to Charles and Virgie (Armstrong) Reed. He grew up in Independence and graduated from William Chrisman High School in 1962. He worked as a truck driver for over 20 years before he retired in 1985 from Lee Way Motor Freight in Kansas City, MO. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and was a NASCAR fan. He was a member of Soul’s Harbour Assembly of God Church and the Masonic Lodge #37 AF&AM. He was married to Joyce (Brewer) on July 2, 1965, she survives of the home. Other survivors include; 2 sons, Chad M. Reed and Michael Scott Reed both of Independence, MO and a sister, Nancy Martin of Kansas City, MO. He was preceded in death by his parents, a granddaughter, Layla Reed in May of 2010, 2 sisters, Dovie Testerman and Virginia Harrington and a brother, Tony Reed.
