Charles “Bud” Reiss, 75, of Independence, passed away Tuesday, June 4th 2013. A visitation will be held 1:00 – 2:00 p.m. Saturday, May 8th 2013 at Carson Speaks Chapel; 1501 W Lexington Ave. Independence. A funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m. Saturday at the chapel. Cremation will follow. A private inurnment to be held at a later time at Oak Ridge Memory Gardens.
Charles was born January 19th, 1938 in Levasy, MO as one of seven children to Clyde and Alene (House) Reiss. He married Joyce Stewart in 1959 and together they raised two children. Charlie worked for ten years at a lumberyard before pursuing a career in trucking. He worked twenty three years at Cetco Trucking, two years at Herman Brother’s, and after retiring worked six years in the Jackson County Park and Recreation as their CDL Trainer and many other maintenance positions. He loved duck hunting, fishing, and wood crafting but above all he loved family. Charlie was a proud grandpa and constantly cheered on his two granddaughters in every activity they did. He is described as a loving and good humored man who always wore a smile. “Bud” is loved and will be dearly missed.
He is survived by wife, Joyce Reiss of the home; daughter Tracy Huff and husband Chris of Independence; son, Charles “Randy” Reiss of Greenwood, MO; two beloved granddaughters, Shelby and Kaitlin; and sister, Shirley Warner of Arizona. Charles was preceded in death by five siblings; Jack, Robert, Wayne, and Clyde Reiss, Jr. and Nellie Mincy.
