Evan LaVerne Resch, 92 of Independence, MO departed this life Tuesday September 7, 2004 at his home. Services will be 10:00 am Friday, September 10th at Speaks Suburban Chapel. Visitation will be 7-8:30 pm Thursday, September 9th at the chapel. Burial in Mound Grove Cemetery. Evan was born October 28, 1911 in Minneapolis, KS to Orestas and Cora (Wilkinson-Sloan) Resch, one of four children. The family moved to Independence, MO where Evan graduated from William Chrisman High School. He married his high school sweetheart, Frances Marie Sheetz on June 21, 1936. They had four sons. Evan worked as an aircraft mechanic during WWII and later became a journeyman with Sheet Metal Union, Local #2, working primarily in commercial construction on many of Kansas City�s buildings. He was active in the Boy Scouts of America, serving with Cub Pack and Troop 223. Mr. Resch also served as District Training Chairman. He was inducted in the Tribe of Mic-O-Say in 1954 at H. Roe Bartle Boy Scout Camp. Evan was "Grandpa� to his granddaughter�s Brownie and Girl Scout Troop and later to the Kids Place After School Program at the Community of Christ Stone Church Congregation where he was a member. Mr. Resch was preceded in death by his wife and oldest son, Gary. He is survived by sons Garth and wife Paulette of Independence, MO, Gregory and wife Tonda of Sedalia, MO, Guy and wife Pat of El Dorado, KS; daughter-in-law Yvonne Resch of Independence, MO; grandchildren Christopher Resch and wife Angela, Krista Chablis Resch, Tim Resch, Kendra Resch and companion John Allan, Adam Parks and wife Tiffany; great-grandchildren Eric and Cody Resch, Judah and Hasadyah Allan, Haley Parkss and his namesake Garrett Evan Resch. The family wishes to thank the staff of Care Alternatives Hospice who have supported the family in his care in the last year.
