Marilyn Diane Rew, 68 of Independence, MO passed away Monday, July 30, 2012 at her residence. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, August 2, 2012 at the Speaks Suburban Chapel. Burial will follow in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. The family will greet friends from 9:00 a.m., until service time Thursday at the chapel. Donations may be made in her name to the Vitas Hospice. Marilyn was born June 24, 1944 in Kansas City, MO and has been a lifelong area resident graduating from Northeast High School in 1962. She had worked as a bookkeeper for the Teamsters Local #41 in Kansas City, MO for 19 years before she retired. She enjoyed going to the casinos, playing card games and going to Council Bluffs, Iowa to watch the dog races. She was married to Howard Rew on January 25, 1963; he survives of the home. Other survivors include; a son, Allen Rew and wife Vicki of Independence, MO; a sister, Ethel Marie Holmes of Lee’s Summit, MO; 4 grandchildren, Jessica, Steven, Alex and Jacqueline and a great grandson, Chase. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Alice Denise Klenklen, a brother, Ed Neptune and her mother Nellie Phipps.
