Manuel Reyes

Manuel Reyes, 68 of Independence, MO passed away Friday, February 2, 2007 at his residence. Mass of Christian burial will be held at 4:00 p.m., Tuesday, February 6, 2007 at the Holy Cross Catholic Church. He will be sent home to Mexico for burial in his hometown of Juventino Rosas, GTO, Mexico. The family will greet friends from 5 to 6:30 p.m., Monday at the Speaks Suburban Chapel. Donations may be made to the American Cancer Society. Manuel was born on April 21, 1938 in Juventino Rosas, GTO, Mexico to Manuel and Simona Borja Reyes and had lived most of his life in Mexico until he moved to Independence 6 years ago. He had worked as a farmer for most of his life. He enjoyed playing pool, playing cards and watching and, in his early days, playing baseball. He was married to Maria Teresa Cerrito, she survives of the home. Other survivors include; 4 sons, Jorge Reyes of Blue Springs, MO, Luis Reyes of Independence, MO, Manuel Reyes of Blue Springs, MO and Gerardo Reyes of Lee�s Summit, MO; 4 daughters, Maria Teresa Reyes of Blue Springs, MO, Veronica Reyes of Mexico, Carina Reyes of Kansas City, MO and Maira Reyes of Mexico; a brother, Martin Reyes of Merced, CA; 5 sisters Simona Reyes, Petra Reyes and Margarita Reyes all of Mexico, Gloria Reyes Kansas City, MO, Emma Reyes of Indiana and 14 grandchildren. A brother, Crispin Reyes, preceded him in death.
