Rheta Rae Snow

February 15, 1937 — April 24, 2024

Rheta Rae Snow passed away on April 24, 2024, in Lee's Summit, Missouri. She was 87 years old. Rheta was born on February 15, 1937, in Independence, Missouri to Everett and Alice (Rice) Wells.

Rheta proudly graduated from the first graduating class at Fort Osage High School. She met her soulmate Harold at a 4-H club meeting and they were married on February 10, 1956. They spent 37 years creating memories together before Harold’s untimely passing in 1993. In Rheta’s early years, she worked at the Alice beauty salon in Independence before dedicating herself to raising her two children with love and care. Later in life, Rheta transitioned into a role as a public relations officer for the government until her well-deserved retirement in 1999.

Rheta's spirit of generosity extended beyond her professional life; she opened her heart and home to host foreign exchange students throughout the years, enriching their lives with new experiences and lasting memories. Her personality shone through in all she did, whether it was creating paintings as an artist or immersing herself in the world of ceramics.

In her leisure time, Rheta dedicated time to volunteer at the community clothes closet in Odessa, where she selflessly gave back to those in need. She was also an active member of the altar society and prime timers, embodying her faith through service and fellowship.

Rheta is survived by her son, Calvin Snow (Suzanne); daughter, Beth Snow; grandchildren, Whitney Ray (Caleb), Weston Snow (Emily) and Caitlin Mastin; great-grandchildren, Zoey, Fiona, Simone, Sylest, Sorin and Stella; and sister, Rama Simmons.

She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Harold and her parents.

Services to honor Rheta's memory will be held on May 3, 2024. A Graveside Service will take place at Salem Cemetery in Independence at 3:00 PM followed by a Prayer Service at St. George Catholic Church in Odessa at 5:00 PM.
