Chloe Rhodes, 89, of Kansas City, MO, passed away Thursday, January 3rd, 2013. A private memorial services will be held by the family at a later time.
Chloe was born May 9th, 1923 to J.W and Mary (Hayes) Wolfe in Clever, MO. She was one of 10 children raised in a farm town where her mother ran the local telephone switchboard. Chloe graduated from high school and then worked in a garment factory during WWII sewing pockets on soldiers’ uniforms. She married and raised four children. Family was her passion and encouraged her children to get higher education. She was an accomplished seamstress and cook making clothing and good food for her daughters. Chloe loved to travel to visit other family members. Chloe and her girls made a tradition of meeting up for their regular family picnics. She is loved and will be missed by many.
Chloe is survived by daughters, Patricia Arlene Sell; Diana Sue Rhodes; and Alice Jean Rhodes, all of Kansas City, MO; grandchildren, John Patrick Sell, and Amanda Jane Rhodes; siblings Bess Ellen Hodges, Hattie Little, Maxine Pfalzgraff, and Bill Wolfe. She was preceded in death by daughter, Mary Jane Rhodes; siblings, J. Etta Kolb, Betty Rice, Bob Wolfe, and Curtis Wolfe.
