Debra was born on May 18, 1956, in Clanton, Alabama, to Gerald and Norma Jean (Glass) Johansen. She grew up in Independence, and graduated from Van Horn High School in the class of 1974. She met Steven Rich while working for Mugs-Up Root Beer, and they married in 1978 – to this union were born two children. She briefly worked for Blue Cross Blue Shield, but spent 30 years working for AT&T as an operator service support specialist. Debra was a very dedicated worker, but loved to go fishing and spend relaxing weekends on her sister’s farm in the country. She also enjoyed baking and decorating cakes for friends and family. She was strong and stubborn, loyal and patient. She stood firm in her beliefs, and said what was on her mind – but always did so in a loving way.
Debra is survived by her family: husband of 38 years, Steven; son, Erin Rich (wife, Lindsay); daughter, Stacy Rich; father, Gerald Johansen; sister, Carla Zackula (husband, Kris); many nieces and nephews; and her beloved grand-puppies, Beni, Remi, and Buddy. She was preceded in death by her mother, Norma Jean Johansen; sister, Marsha Billuris; brother, Michael Johansen; and nephew, Jeffery Billuris.
