Benjamin F. Richards, 88, Cameron, MO formerly of Kansas City North, MO, passed away Aug. 9, 2018. Services will be 10 am, Friday at Carson-Speaks Chapel, 1501 W. Lexington Ave., Independence, MO 64052; interment at Mt. Washington Cemetery. Visitation will be 6- 8 pm, Thursday at the chapel. The family requests contributions to the Alzheimer’s Association, 3846 W 75th St, Prairie Village, KS 66208.
Ben was born March 26, 1930 in Kansas City, MO. Following graduation from Manuel High School in 1948 he joined the U.S. Navy and began a twenty-two year career as an electrician. Following his retirement from the Navy, he worked as an electrician for different companies and retired from Stuart Hall. He enjoyed woodworking, traveling and painting watercolors. Two of his works were selected to be displayed at the “Making Memories” Art Exhibit in Kansas City, KS. He and his wife were members of the Swinging Squares Square Dance Club and he was a member of the Fleet Reserve Association.
Ben was preceded in death by his wife Silvia Joann Richards. He is survived by sons Tim Richards and wife Cindy, Carrollton, MO; Tom Richards and wife Tracy, Flower Mound, TX; Todd Richards and wife Shelley, Liberty, MO; grandchildren Angela, Benjamin, Tanner, Tyler and Morgan; great-grandchildren Renee, Jocelyn, Guinevere and Anastasia.
