Ernest Leonard Richards, 93, Independence, MO passed away Monday, December 24, 2012.
Visitation will be from 10:00-11:00 a.m. Friday, December 28, 2012 at Country Meadows Baptist Church; 4901 Lee’s Summit Rd. Kansas City, Mo 64136. Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. at the church. Entombment will follow at Mt. Washington Mausoleum with Military Honors. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to Kansas City Hospice or the D.A.V.
Leonard was born February 2, 1919 near Sedalia, MO the son of Albert and Elizabeth (Elder) Richards. He was a U.S. Army Veteran of WWII, serving in the Philippines and Korea. He had worked at the Civilian Conservation Corp and later retired as an Optician.
Survivors include his loving wife, Wilma Richards of 74 years; daughter, Beverly Osborne and husband Robert; grandchildren, Leonard Richards and wife Cheryl, Mike Richards, Rebecca Osborne-Wescott and husband Dean, Robert Osborne and wife Kim; great grandchildren, Ryan Wescott and wife Kelly, Amber White and husband Chris, Jamie Osborne, Seth Osborne, and Houston Richards; great great grandchild, Laney Wescott; daughter in law, Joyce Richards; sister, Kathryn Lydick; brother, Bob Richards and wife Roxie; and additional nieces, nephews, and family.
Leonard was preceded in death by his son, Leonard W. Richards; sisters, Lillian McPherson; brothers, Don, James and Emmitt Richards.
