Lewis E. Richards, 95, of Independence, MO passed away on May 17, 2012. Lewis was born May 6, 1917 in Michigan. He was united in marriage on Valentines Day, 1936 to Mary Parker, and they were married for 68 years, before her death in 2005. Lewis and Mary were the owners of Richards United Super on 24 Hwy in Independence, MO. He served as a Chaplain for 10 years at Independence Regional Health Center, and was a minister in the Community of Christ. Lewis is survived by two sons, Lewis James Richards and Thomas Parker Richards and wife Jane; two brothers, Jerry Richards, Independence, MO and Wilbert Richards of New Jersey; one sister, Maxine Lorenz, Michigan; grandchildren; great grandchildren; nieces and nephews. A visitation will be held from 9-11:00 a.m. followed by an 11:00 a.m. service on Friday, May 25, at the Speaks Suburban Chapel, 18020 E. 39th St., Independence, MO. Burial at Mound Grove Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Outreach International.
