Mary K. Richards

Mary K. Richards, 92, of Independence, MO, passed away Sunday, June 19, 2005 at Carmel Hills Living Center. Services will be 2:00 p.m. Thursday, June 23, 2005 at Speaks Suburban Chapel. Visitation will be 1 hour prior to the service from 1-2:00 p.m. in the chapel. Burial will take place in Mound Grove Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to The Temple Fund, 1001 W. Walnut, Independence, MO 64050. Mary was born June 26, 1912 in Owendale, MI to Silas and Viola (Hinton) Parker. She was a devout Christian and a long-time member of the Community of Christ Church where she was ordained as an Elder in 1989. Mary and her husband, Lewis, opened Richards United Super in Independence in 1962, which is now Richards Sun Fresh. They lived by the words "Friendliness is our motto and service is our watchword�. She is survived by her husband of 68 years, Lewis Richards of the home, sons Lewis J. Richards, Thomas Richards and wife Jane; grandchildren Kim Lathan, Ted Lathan, Paul and Janet Richards, Ann Richards, Aaron and Amber Richards; 8 great-grandchildren; brother Kenneth Parker and wife Freda.
