Carl Donald Richardson, 89 of Independence, MO passed away Monday, September 4, 2017 at Monterey Park Nursing Center. Services will be 2:00 p.m., Thursday, September 7, 2017 at the Carson-Speaks Chapel, 1501 W. Lexington Ave., Independence, MO 64052. Entombment will follow in Mt. Washington Mausoleum. The family will greet friends from 1:00 p.m., until service time Thursday at the chapel. Donations may be made in his name to the St. Paul’s United Methodist Church. Carl was born September 24, 1927 in Richmond, MO to Clell and Mayme Ella (Skiles) Richardson. He proudly served in the US Navy at the end of WWII. He worked for 43 years as a repairman for Sears Roebuck & CO until he retired in 1989. He enjoyed bowling, crossword puzzles and was an avid KC Royals fan. He was a longtime active member of the St. Paul’s United Methodist Church. Survivors include; a son, Jeff Richardson and wife Diane of Independence, MO; 3 grandchildren, Ashlee Duckett (Matt), Vanessa Johnson (Jonathan) and Kyle Richardson; 4 great grandchildren, Skylar, Gwen, Vincent and Anthony; a twin sister, Edna Mae Brelje of Blue Springs, MO and numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife Doris Jean (Williams) on April 9, 2005, his parents, 2 brothers, a sister and a grandson.
