Eugene Richardson

January 10, 1930 — September 1, 2012

Eugene “Gene” D. Richardson, 82, Independence, MO passed away Sept. 1, 2012 at home. Services will be 11 am, Wed. at Carson-Speaks Chapel; 1501 W. Lexington Ave., Independence, MO 64052; interment will be with Full Military Honors at Mt. Washington Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 10 am before the service.
Gene was born in Independence, MO January 10, 1930 to Curtis and Leona Richardson, and had one sister, Barbara. He spent his childhood at home with his family until he joined the United States Marine Corps in July of 1950. Gene served in the Korean War and upon returning married Gayle Frazier on March 12, 1954. His years in the military brought many opportunities for travel and change but when he was honorably discharged from the Marine Corps in 1957, he and Gayle moved back to Missouri where they raised their 4 children.
Gene worked many jobs throughout his lifetime. He was a dedicated, hard worker no matter what his position was or what company he was working for. He retired in May of 2006, but spent as much time as possible outside feeding the birds and gardening. He had many other hobbies and was dedicated to working on projects for his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Gene was preceded in death by his wife Gayle Richardson; son Curtis Richardson; granddaughter Brandy Richardson and sister Barbara Webb. He is survived by daughter Monica Beale and husband Randy, Independence, MO; son Bruce Richardson and wife Becky, Savannah, MO; son Paul Richardson and wife Janet, Shickshinny, PA; eleven grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren.
Gene will be remembered by those who loved him as a dedicated and honorable man who was fiercely loyal to his country and his family.
