Kathleen J. Richardson, 86, of Blue Springs, MO, passed away April 24, 2014 in Lee’s Summit, MO, surrounded by her family. She was born in Pico, CA on December 19, 1927 and was preceded in death by her parents, James Alfred Worrel and Carma Audaleen (Moore) Worrel; her husband, Walter Anthony Richardson; and two sisters, Patsy Faye Swartz and Jana Star Paris. She is survived by her three children, Richard Gayle Richardson (Sherri) of Lee’s Summit, MO, Kathleen Ann Mercer (Bill) of Blue Springs, MO, and Michael Anthony Richardson (Patricia) of Independence, MO; 10 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; one sister, Doria Curtin; and 3 brothers, Jimmy, Jerry and Joe Worrel. Kathleen retired from Bendix (Allied Signal) after 35 years of service. She also earned her nursing certificate and worked at Research Hospital and Truman Medical Center. During her retirement she enjoyed spending time with her family, was very active in her church, interpreted for the deaf and blind, and loved writing music and poems. She was a very loyal Royals fan and loved to watch the games. Kathleen raised her children in the Fairmount Christian Church in Independence, MO and had a very strong faith. In honor of Kathleen, contributions may be made to the Blue Springs Vesper Hall Meals on Wheels Program or Grace Hospice in Kansas City, MO. A visitation will take place from 6-8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 29, at the Speaks Suburban Chapel, 18020 E. 39th St., Independence, MO. Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 30, at the Suburban Chapel with burial to follow at Salem Cemetery.
