Albert Weldon Richerson

October 25, 1916 — July 16, 2005

Albert Weldon Richerson passed away Saturday evening July 16, 2005 at the age of 88. A celebration of a life well lived will be 10 am Wednesday, July 20th at Glenwood Park United Methodist Church, 10000 E. 23rd St., Independence, MO. Visitation will be Tuesday from 7 to 8:30 pm at the Church. In lieu of flowers, contributions are suggested to Glenwood Park UMC Memorial Fund. Albert was born October 25, 1916 in Cleburne, TX. He was the oldest of five children and was 16 years old when his mother Ivy Pauline died during childbirth. Being the oldest child, he became the family cook and surrogate mother. It was during this time that Albert became an expert biscuit baker, a skill shared with family every holiday. Other areas of expertise included auto repairing, hanging wallpaper, bowling, playing piano and organ, and being a great fatherly example and good person. Albert graduated from William Chrisman High School in 1934. He was married to Virginia (Fulton) Richerson for 59 years before Virginia�s passing in 1998. Albert & Virginia were life long members of the Glenwood Park United Methodist Church where Albert served many years as choir director and organist. He retired from the Union Wire Rope division of Armco Steel after 33 years of service; it is believed that Dad missed only 1 � days of work during his 33 years. Albert & Virginia were preceded in death by their sons, Dennis and Dean Richerson, and are survived by Sallyann Boline of Lee�s Summit, MO, John Richerson of Independence, MO, Robin Richerson of Lenexa, KS, and Brad Richerson of Lenexa, KS; 13 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren
