Franklin W. Rieske, 94, formerly of Independence, MO, passed away peacefully Wednesday, March 9, 2022 at his home in St. Louis, MO. Franklin was born May 19, 1927 in Dayton, OH to Franklin and Glendora (Watson) Rieske. He became an Engineer, an Educator in Independence Public Schools for 30 years, a dedicated leader and scout master to Troup #422, an ordained minister in the Community of Christ Church, an accomplished musician playing wind and string instruments. His true love was playing hymns on the Pipe Organ at a variety of churches where he was on staff. For decades Franklin sang in the Messiah Chorus for their annual holiday performances. Franklin served in World War II (Far East) during Operation Beleaguer. He is preceded in death by his wife, Janet and survived by three sisters, three sons, Mark, Paul and James along with six grandchildren. A private service will be held March 18th at Speaks Funeral Home in Independence followed by burial at Mound Grove Cemetery.
