Norman W. Rimmer, 89, Independence, MO died Jan. 7, 2008 at St. Luke’s Hospital. Services will be 10 am, Friday, Jan. 11, 2008 at Speaks Suburban Chapel; interment at Mound Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be 6 �" 8 pm, Thursday at the funeral home.
Norman was born Nov. 25, 1918 in White Owl, SD. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of WW II. He graduated with an Engineering Degree from K.U. and worked as a civil engineer for Butler Manufacturing for 56 years before retiring in 2003. Norman is a member of the K.U. Engineering Hall of Fame and was listed in “Who’s Who in Engineering”. He was a Past President of American Building Codes, a member of the Registered Professional Engineers and the Elks Lodge in Idaho Springs, CO. He also was a Priest at the RLDS South Crysler Restoration Branch.
Norman was preceded in death by his first wife Minnie M. Rimmer in 2000. He is survived by his wife Ruthella Rimmer, of the home; sons Jerry N. Rimmer, Sr. and wife Wynema Rimmer, Lee’s Summit, MO; Garland Rimmer Idaho Springs, CO; step-daughters Linda Lattin and husband J.E., Lee’s Summit, MO; Jana Oxenford and husband Rick, Green Valley, AZ; step-son Dean Johnson and wife Jacklyn, Lee’s Summit, MO; step-daughter Dian Buckley and husband Tom, Independence, MO; grandsons Jerry N. Rimmer, Jr. and wife Barbara; Todd D. Rimmer and wife Kim; Norman W. Rimmer and wife Cindy; Ryan M. Rimmer and wife Heather; and several great-grandchildren and step- grandchildren.
