Jewell Wayne Roark, 94 of Independence, MO passed away Tuesday, January 30, 2018 at Research Medical Center. Services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, February 3, 2018 at the Speaks Suburban chapel, 18020 E. 39th St., Independence, MO 64055. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. Donations may be made in his name to the Salvation Army or to St. Jude’s Hospital. Jewell was born September 5, 1923 in Iberia, MO to Arthur and Jessie (Shackelford) Roark. He was owner/operator of Midwest Sawdust from 1963 until he retired in 1986. He enjoyed woodworking, square dancing and traveling. He donated his time volunteering at Centerpoint Medical Center and the Salvation Army. He proudly served in the US Army during WWII. Survivors include; a son, Tad Roark and wife Diana of Independence, MO; a sister, Mary Pat Adams of Independence; 3 grandchildren, Kristin Cliver, Kate Schwaller and Robert Schwaller and 2 great grandchildren, Brody Cliver and Margaux Schwaller. He was preceded in death by his loving wife Ann in 2003; his parents and 2 brothers, Wiley Roark and Earl Roark.
