Robert Samuel Chapman, of Independence, Missouri, passed away peacefully in the comfort of his own home on June 26, 2023. He was 88 years old.
Robert was born to Harry and Bobbie Chapman in Independence, Missouri on May 8, 1935. He attended and graduated from Chrisman High School in 1953. Five years later, he enlisted in the army and served for two years before being discharged. Soon after, he began working as a book binder at a local printing company. It was at this job he would meet the love of his life, Arlene. On February 12, 1962, they married, and from their union came two beautiful girls; Karen and Sharon.
In his free time, Robert enjoyed vacationing with his family, taking his sweetheart on getaways to Vegas, grilling, reading, and watching America’s favorite pastime, baseball. He was stubborn, hard-headed, and worked tirelessly to provide for his family. He often teased his girls and would enjoy games of “slug-bug” while on the road. He was a truly wonderful man who will be so dearly missed by his beloved family.
Robert leaves behind his four children; Karen (Ken) Dunaway, Sharon McVey, Lloyd Kinnaman, and Don Duerr, his sister; Reba Riddle, and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his wife; Arlene, and his parents; Harry and Bobbie, three brothers, and three sisters.
A memorial visitation will take place on Friday, June 30, 2023, at Carson-Speaks Chapel from 5-7pm. He will be inurned at Mt. Washington Cemetery at a later date.
