Robert Lee Coomes, also known affectionately as Bob, passed away on May 18, 2024, in his hometown of Kansas City, Missouri. He was born on October 4, 1931, to his loving parents Charles and Alice Coomes. Robert leaves behind a legacy marked by kindness, intelligence, and athleticism.
Throughout his life, Bob was a shining example of determination and passion. He pursued his education at UCM on a football scholarship, embodying the perfect balance of academics and sportsmanship. His time in the Army further showcased his commitment to serving his country with honor. Professionally, Bob thrived as a business owner in the printing industry, where he displayed exceptional leadership and entrepreneurial spirit. His proudest accomplishment outside of work was playing semiprofessional baseball, a testament to his skill and dedication.
Beyond his career achievements and athletic pursuits, Bob was a man of diverse interests. He found joy in activities such as baking, building computers, and watching John Wayne movies. These hobbies reflected his versatile nature and insatiable curiosity. Bob's warm personality endeared him to all who had the pleasure of knowing him. His sweet demeanor and sharp intellect left a lasting impact on family members.
Bob is survived by his children; Dianne (Rick) Thomann and Mike (Shannon) Coomes; 5 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; extended family members, and dear friends. He is preceded in life by his beloved wife Patricia Coomes and his parents Charles and Alice Coomes.
