Independence

Robert Raymond Rabideau, affectionately known as Bob, passed away on March 26, 2025, in Independence, Missouri. He was 85 years of age.

Bob was born on June 17, 1939, in Polar, Wisconsin, to Glenn and Nora Rabideau. His early education took place at Downers Grove High School, where he developed a strong sense of duty, which guided him into military service. At the tender age of 17, he enlisted in the United States Navy, proudly serving his country with honor. During his time in the service, he ran into a beautiful young woman named Suzie at a dance. A mere 21 days after their initial meeting, they declared their love for one another and vowed to spend the rest of their days as husband and wife. They were truly inseparable.

Following his military service, Bob embarked on a long and fulfilling career with Ford Motor Company, where he ultimately retired as a stockman. His work ethic and commitment were evident to everyone around him, showcasing a life dedicated not only to his profession but also to those he loved. Beyond his career, Bob was an active and vibrant individual with a heart of gold. He was deeply involved in coaching girls’ softball, imparting his passion for the sport to young athletes throughout their formative years. He also served as an umpire for the Independence Girls Softball Association, contributing to the local sports community. Bob enjoyed engaging in physical activities, including playing softball, volleyball, bowling, and golf, often sharing these moments with his beloved wife, Suzie. Summers were a cherished time for Bob and Suzie as they created countless memories with their family at their lake house, relishing the peacefulness of their surroundings and the joy of spending time on the water. For the last 30 years, they have been snowbirds spending winters in Texas where they made memories and lifetime friends. Bob’s proudest accomplishment was the strong family he built with Suzie, his best friend and partner. Together, they raised four incredible daughters, nurturing their growth and celebrating their achievements.

Bob's passing was preceded by his parents, Glenn and Nora (Fischer) Rabideau; his best friend and wife of 60 years, Cecilia "Suzie" Rabideau; his daughter, Teresa Rabideau; and his son-in-law, Richard Wollschlager, and his brother, Dennis Rabideau. His legacy of love lives on through his children, Vicki Handley (Jeff), Sherry Wollschlager, and Julie Davis (Clay); his brother-in-law, Donnie Elliott (Tanya), as well as seven grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Meals on Wheels. Bob will be laid to rest at Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
