Robert Earl "Bob" Stewart, a lifelong resident of Independence, MO, passed away on December 5, 2023, at Missouri Veteran's Home in Warrensburg. He was born on February 5, 1952, in Peoria, IL.  He had a fulfilling career with the United States Postal Service, dedicating 20 years of his life to the organization before retiring. He took great pride in his work and displayed a strong sense of professionalism throughout his tenure.

Before starting his career, Bob graduated from Fort Osage High School. This educational foundation equipped him with the skills necessary for success in later life.

An honorable Marine Corp veteran, Bob served his country during the Vietnam War. His military service was a testament to his bravery and dedication to protecting the values he held dear.

In his spare time, Bob enjoyed various hobbies and interests. He found solace in reading books and kept himself engaged with activities such as watching the Kansas City Royals and Chiefs and the Missouri Tigers. Above all else, spending time with his grandchildren brought him immeasurable joy.

Bob's proudest accomplishment was raising two children—Brett and Erin—who grew up to become good, upstanding individuals. His unwavering love and support shaped them into the people they are today.

In addition to his beloved wife of 46 years, Debbie and his children, Brett (Emily) Stewart and Erin Chatterton, Bob is survived by his brothers, David Stewart and Bill Stewart; sisters Jean Ann Milton, Mona Lyon, and Susan Milton; his adored grandchildren, Weston and Wyatt Chatterton and Vera and Betty Stewart; as well as other extended family members and friends.  He is preceded in death by his father and step-mother, Jean and Ramona Stewart; brother, Kevin Stewart and sister, Diana Whitehead.

During this difficult time of loss, we remember Bob fondly for his dedication to duty, love for family, and unwavering commitment to excellence in all aspects of life. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

A memorial service to honor Bob's life will be held at 10:30am on Wednesday, December 13th, with a visitation prior to the service from 9:30-10:30am, both at Speaks Suburban Chapel; 18020 E 39th St.; Independence, MO 64055.  Interment with full military honors will take place at 3pm on the same day at Missouri Veteran's Cemetery in Higginsville.  In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in Bob’s honor to Missouri Veteran’s Home in Warrensburg.
