Robert Lee "Bob" Wilson

Robert Lee Wilson, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and esteemed member of the community, passed away on May 21, 2024 in Independence, Missouri. He was 93 years old.

Born on May 25, 1930, in Chariton, Iowa, Bob lived a life full of dedication and love that will forever be cherished by all who knew him. Bob's career at John Deere was a testament to his strong work ethic and commitment. He worked tirelessly from the beginning of his career until his well-deserved retirement in 1980. Not only was he diligent in his professional life, but he also served his country honorably as a member of the United States Air Force during the Korean War. Beyond his professional and military accomplishments, Bob was known for his vibrant personality. Described as spunky and full of love, he touched the lives of many with his kindness and generosity. His love for his family shone brightly through his adoration for his grandchildren. Bob's handwritten letters to them will always be treasured as a reminder of the special bond they shared. A man of deep faith, Bob dedicated his life to Christ and was an active member of Stone Church where he led bible study sessions. His commitment to serving others extended to being an Elder in the Community of Christ Church, a role he fulfilled with grace and compassion.

Bob's passing was preceded by his parents; James R. and Johanna (Peterson) Wilson, his step-father; Mack Young, his siblings; Norma Jones and Jack Young, and his step-sister; Frances Young. His legacy lives on through his children; James Wilson (Georgeanne) and Dianne Fredin (Tom), his companion and best friend; Mary Tobaben, 8 grandchildren and many great and great-great-grandchildren.

A Memorial Service to celebrate Bob's life will be held at Carson-Speaks Chapel in Independence, Missouri on June 11, 2024, at 10:00 AM followed by a graveside service at Mound Grove Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Bob's memory to Outreach International.
