Alma Nadine Roberts, 79, passed away on May 27, 2016.
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, May 31, at 12pm, at Carson-Speaks Chapel, 1501 W. Lexington Avenue in Independence. She will be laid to rest in Mount Washington Cemetery.
Contributions may be made to Shriner’s Childrens Hospital in her memory.
Nadine was born on September 24, 1936, in Poplar Bluff, MO, to George and Mildred (Alexander) Barker, and later graduated from Northeast High School. She met Orval Roberts, a friend of the family, and they married on April 2, 1954. Together they had three children. Nadine worked for Montgomery Ward as an adjustor, retiring in 1986. She enjoyed frequent trips to Colorado, where she could spend time in nature, admiring the scenery. She was a longtime member of Little Blue Baptist Church. She loved to read, do crossword puzzles, and spend time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She will be remembered as a supportive and loving mother, and she will be dearly missed.
Survivors include her children: son, Randy (Rhonda) Roberts, Sandra (Joe) Collins, and Cathy (Jon) McClain; grandchildren, Christi (Adrian) Roberts, Nicholas (Betsy) Roberts, Jessica Ailshire, Jonney McClain Jr., Lindsey (Brewster) Wilson, Courtney (Shane Galloway) Collins, and Kellie Collins; eleven great-grandchildren; and brother, Bill Barker and sister, Delma Anderson.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Orval Roberts; and brothers, Lloyd and Larry Barker.
