Curtis Wayne Robertson, 73, passed away, Friday, January 22, 2016. Curtis began life on October 26, 1942, the youngest of three sons born to Rex Curtis and Lorrayne Fleurie (Legendre) Robertson. He grew up in farming communities in and around Kansas City and Appleton City, MO and always loved gardening and the many rewards it brought to the family and table. Curtis served in the US Army from 1964 to 1966 in C Battery 5th Howitzer Battalion, during the Vietnam War. In 1969, he met and married the love of his life, Mary Margaret Klieman. They were married 47 years and raised two beautiful daughters, Johanna Lee of Lathrop, MO (Dennis) Bartee, grandchildren, Trevin, Curtis and Elizabeth and Katherine Klaire of Independence, MO and (Keith) Schlotman and grandchildren, Adellyn and Chance. Curtis is also survived by his brother Robert Lee Robertson. He was preceded in death by his oldest brother, Jon Rex Robertson. He started working for Owens-Illinois Box Manufacturing in 1961. His career spanned dozens of jobs at that box company itself. When he retired in 2005 from Georgia-Pacific Box Manufacturing, he worked in machine maintenance and loved his work. Visitation will be held from 10:30 followed by Mass of Christian Burial at noon Thursday, January 28, 2016 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 611 N. Liberty St., Independence, MO 64055.
