William H. Robinson Jr., 84, died Monday, August 21, 2006, at the Rosewood Health Center at The Groves in Independence. Bill was born September 14, 1921 in Collins, Iowa to William and Mable Robinson. He graduated salutatorian of his class in 1938, and then began working for the Milwaukee Railroad. He worked as a telegraph operator, depot agent, traveling auditor, and as Assistant to the Superintendent of Transportation at Union Station in Chicago. At the time of his retirement, he was serving as Director of Internal Audit for the Milwaukee Motor Transportation Company, bringing his total number of years with the "Milwaukee� to over 45 years. Bill served in the U. S. Navy during World War II and was stationed in Hawaii. He was a Mason, a Shriner, and a member of the American Legion. He was a member of the Community of Christ church and was ordained to the priesthood office of teacher. Bill is survived by his wife of 60 years, Myrtha; his three children, Kathy Robinson, Independence; Marcia Hettrick and her husband, Ric, Lee�s Summit; Steve Robinson and his wife, Brenda, Grain Valley; his five grandchildren, Kristi Main and her husband, Nick; Katie Dennis and her husband, Caleb; David Hettrick; Abby Robinson; and Sam Robinson; and his four great-grandchildren, Casey and Jackson Main, and Daniel and Callie Dennis. Services will be 10am Saturday, Aug 26th at Speaks Suburban Chapel, 18020 E. 39th Street, Independence. Visitation will be 6-8:00pm Friday at the chapel. Burial in Mound Grove Cemetery. The family suggests contributions to The Groves Endowment Fund.
