Orson R. �Bob� Robinson, 88, died peacefully March 31, 2005 at 88 years of age, Groves Retirement Center in Independence, Missouri. Born June 16, 1916 in San Marcial, New Mexico and moved early in life to Independence. 1934 graduate of William Chrisman High School. Served in the U.S. Navy for 20 years, including World War II and the Korean War. Chief Petty Officer aboard the USS Milwaukee, USS Gardner�s Bay, USS YFNG-1 Diving Barge and USS Orion. Formally retired with the rank of Ensign in 1958. Returned to Independence for the remainder of life. Retired from his second career as a building maintenance engineer for Business Men�s Assurance Co. in 1977. Lifelong Community of Christ member, attending Slover Park, Gudgell Park and finally East 39th Street congregations of the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Organizer and first scoutmaster of Troop 383, Boy Scouts of America. Married his loving wife Katherine Juanita Thayer, �Kitty�, on December 22, 1941 in New London, Connecticut. Preceded in death by his father and mother, Anthony and Mattie Leona Robinson (Independence, MO), sister Bessie (CA) and brother Daniel (Independence, MO). Survived by his wife Kitty; daughter and son-in-law, Thayer Ann and Michael Alberts (Erskine Park, NSW, Australia); son and daughter-in-law, Robby and Sue Robinson (Lincoln, NE); and son and daughter-in-law David and Carolyn Robinson (Plano, TX); six grandchildren including Michael Alberts and wife Michelle (Eagle Vale, NSW, Australia), Melanie Luenenborg and husband Wyatt (San Ramon, CA), Matthew Robinson and wife Melody (Allen, TX), Carrie Darney and husband Ryan (McKinney, TX), Adam Robinson and fianc�e Rebecca Reade (Charleston, SC); stepdaughter Mackenzie and husband Rylie (Lincoln, NE); nine great grandchildren; brother Kenneth and wife Alice (Boulder City, Nevada); sister Marian and husband Dale (Carrolton, TX); many nieces, nephews and their children. Services will be 2 pm Monday, April 4, 2005, at Carson-Speaks Chapel, 1501 W. Lexington Ave. Family visitation will be Sunday, April 3rd at the Chapel between 3:00 - 5:00 p.m. Internment at Mound Grove Cemetery. Contributions in lieu of flowers to the East 39th Street Congregation�s youth program.
