Christine “Christy” Alice Makinen
Devoted mother, compassionate big sister and loving YaYa to her grandchildren. Christine Alice Makinen, 61, passed away Saturday, March 19, 2022, in Kansas City, MO after a courageous battle with multiple health issues. She was born November 7, 1960, in Milwaukee, WI to Thomas and Nancy Makinen. Christine graduated from Truman High School where she also happened to stumble across her lifelong best friend Holly Stewart. Christine and Holly have been the most inseparable pair with their years of on-going shenanigans. She was a 1983 graduate of Baker University where she was a sister of the Alphi Chi Omega sorority and also a member of the Baker University varsity cheerleading squad. Christine graduated with a bachelor’s degree to then move on to working as a senior executive casino host for many years, displaying an amazing ability to entertain and event plan for many casino guests. Christine truly lived life to the fullest through simple pleasures, chatting with friends and family, baking in the sun and spending time with her grandchildren. She had an uncanny ability to reach people in a deep and positive way.
Christine is survived by four loving siblings; Patricia, Robbie, Michael and Michelle, two children; Jake and Maggie, three grandchildren; Casen, Emmett, and Amelia, one niece; Jessica, and two nephews; Michael and Matthew.
Besides spending time with family and friends, Christine had a passion for attending sporting events and travelling. Christine was most influenced by her family to be a loving and caring woman, always giving her time to others and she incorporated that into her motherhood.
Christine had a bright and outgoing personality and was known for her ability to sense when people needed her help. She touched many lives with her generosity.
