Marilyn Rogers

April 4, 1939 — June 20, 2013

Marilyn Rogers, 74, died June 20, 2013, in Independence, MO with her family by her side. She was born on April 4, 1939 in Garner, IA, the third of seven children. She grew up in Kansas City, MO and graduated from Northeast High School, where she met her husband, Noel Rogers, during the graduation ceremony. Marilyn worked for John Deere and the Community of Christ as an administrative assistant. She loved spending time with her family, acting as a Sunday school teacher, den mother, Skylark leader, room mother, and PTA officer. She was active in her church community and was a proud grandmother and great grandmother. Her infectious laughter was a highlight for everyone in her life. Her interests included gardening, reading, sports (playing, watching, cheering), family vacations and crossword puzzles. She and her husband traveled North America with two of her sisters and their spouses. This rowdy bunch met every Saturday morning at Cracker Barrel for breakfast. Marilyn is survived by her husband Noel Rogers, sons Craig (Lynn), Jeff (Cindi), daughter Michele Caswell (Brent); and 5 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. A celebration of her life will be held on Sunday, June 30 at 3:00 p.m. at the Walnut Gardens Community of Christ, 19201 East R. D. Mize Rd. in Independence, MO. Donations may be made to Kansas City Hospice or the Kansas City Cancer Center East, 4881 NE Goodview Cir., Lee's Summit, MO. 66205.
