Noel C. Rogers, Jr., 75, died Monday, October 7, 2013, at Kansas City Hospice House. He was born on April 24, 1938 in Richmond, MO, the first of three boys. His family owned a farm in Camden, MO, where he spent a good part of his adolescence. His parents also had a home in Kansas City, MO and he graduated from Northeast High School, where he met his wife, Marilyn Colyer, during the graduation ceremony. Noel, also known to his family as Buddy, worked for Montgomery Wards, Vendo, and Asco before joining Trans World Airlines as a machinist, where he retired in 2001 after 29 years of service. He enjoyed working on cars, walking car lots on Sundays, watching sports, with a special fondness for MU, and the Kansas City Chiefs and Royals. He was an avid supporter of his children and grandchildren, attending all their concerts, sports games, church activities, and other special events. He also enjoyed spending time with family, grilling in the backyard, and running after a lawnmower. His children are especially fond of their memories of family vacations. He and his wife traveled North America with their sisters and spouses, Janice and Gary Zimmerman and Joyce and Duane Porterfield. This rowdy bunch met every Saturday morning at Cracker Barrel for breakfast. Noel is survived by his sons Craig (Lynn), Jeff (Cindi), daughter Michele Caswell (Brent); and 5 grandchildren, Amber Fensermaker, Blake Rogers, Corey Rogers, Cole and Rian Caswell and 4 great-grandchildren, Ryelynn, Alec, Callie, and Jude. He is also survived by his brother Terry Rogers. A celebration of his life will be held on Sunday, October 20, 2013 at 3:00 p.m. at the Walnut Gardens Community of Christ, 19201 East R. D. Mize Rd. in Independence, MO. Donations may be made to Kansas City Hospice and Palliative Care.
