Rose Marie Dedmon, age 102 years, lived most of her life in Independence, Missouri, and passed away peacefully on April 13, 2025 while living with her daughter in Lee’s Summit, Missouri. Born on August 19, 1922, in Lexington, Missouri, to John and Maria (Donni) Luce, she was a cherished figure within her family and community.
An educated woman, Rose was a proud graduate of Lexington High School. Rose’s professional journey began with her working at Lake City Ammunition Plant, Russell Stover in Kansas City, and a jewelry store, where her passion for detail and care shone brightly. She and her husband later purchased a funeral home in Mountain Grove, Missouri where she became a Funeral Director and Embalmer, a role in which she demonstrated her caring and compassionate nature. After the passing of her beloved husband, John Asberry Dedmon, Rose merged the funeral home to form Craig-Hurtt-Hutsell-Dedmon Funeral Home in Mountain Grove, Missouri.
Throughout her life, she remained a devout Christian and became an active member of Eastgate Christian Church, contributing to her community and nurturing connections that enriched her life. Her hobbies included a love for reading across all genres, providing her with joy and escape. She also found pleasure in tending to her garden, where her flowers thrived under her attentive care. Rose’s vibrant spirit and nurturing ways will be fondly remembered by all who knew her.
Rose is survived by her daughter, Linda Martinovich and husband Ron; granddaughters, Cindy White (Jason) and Kim Roccaro (Lawrence); great-grandchildren, Jordan White, Olivia White, Nathan White; and Lawrence Jr. Roccaro, Sophia Roccaro and Bella Roccaro; and her daughters two dogs, Penny and Sam, who Rose loved. She joins in eternal rest with her husband, John Asberry Dedmon; parents, John and Maria Luce; and brother, Frank Luce.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate her life at Carson-Speaks Chapel in Independence, Missouri. Visitation will be held on April 18, 2025, from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM, followed by a Funeral Service from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM. The interment will take place following the service at Mount Washington Cemetery in Independence, Missouri. Contributions can be made in Rose's honor to Midwest Pug Rescue or American Cancer Society.
