In Memory of Rosita Lillian Garcia Fabela
Rosita Lillian Garcia Fabela, affectionately known as "Rosie" to her loved ones or “Mommo” to her grandkids, passed away on June 1, 2024, in Independence, Missouri. She was born on August 21, 1944, in Argentine, Kansas to her parents, Gabriel and Elvira Garcia. A devoted soul whose kindness knew no bounds, Rosie will be fondly remembered for her unwavering love and the special mark she left on the hearts of all who knew her.
Throughout her life, Rosie had a profound sense of humor and found joy in the simple pleasures and treasured moments spent with those she held dear. She had a talent for making the best homemade flour tortillas almost as good as her mother’s. The love she put into each tortilla encapsulated her caring nature and attention to detail. Her passion for gardening, tending to both vegetables and flowers with care and dedication, reflected her nurturing spirit.
Rosie's love for music, particularly oldies and the melodies of Dean Martin, brightened many days and created lasting memories for those around her. She embraced life with a ferocious love and energy that was evident in everything she did. Her proudest accomplishments were undoubtedly her family; she reveled in the roles of grandmother and great-grandmother, cherishing each moment spent with the generations she held so dear. From her tasty tortillas to loving her family, she was the absolute best.
Rosie is survived by her husband, Gonzalo “Tony” Fabela, children, David (Connie) Barbosa, Lisa (Max) Pecina; 7 grandchildren; Max, David, Mario, Tiffany, Manuel, Daniel and Gloria; 5 great grandchildren; Mercy, Max, Rio, Zeal and Apphia Rose; 1 brother; 7 sisters. She is preceded in death by her parents, Gabriel and Elvira; 2 brothers and 3 sisters.
Family and friends will gather to honor and remember Rosie at the Carson-Speaks Chapel in Independence, Missouri. A Visitation will take place on June 14, 2024, from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM, followed by a Funeral Service at 2:00 PM at the same location.
In the tapestry of life, Rosie's presence added a vibrant thread of love and warmth that will continue to live on in the hearts of those she leaves behind. May her memory be a blessing, and may her legacy of love and compassion inspire all who were fortunate enough to have known her.
Rest in peace, dear Rosie. You will be dearly missed but forever cherished.
