Billie Irene Rosso, 85, of Independence, MO passed away Sunday, January 8, 2006, at the Independence Regional Health Center.
Billie was born March 24, 1920, in Stromsburg, Nebraska, the daughter of Anna Mae Anderson Lindgren and Chester Melvin Lindgren. She graduated from Grand Island High School and attended Kearney State Teachers� College, both in Nebraska. In 1940, she married John Clair Rosso. She accompanied him to Camp Robinson, Arkansas, at the beginning of World War II. After his return from serving in Patton�s Third Army, the couple made their home in Nebraska. In 1987, Billie moved to Independence, MO, to live closer to family.
She was a member of the Community of Christ Church where she served for many years as a pianist and Sunday school teacher. She loved children and helped with those who were mentally and physically challenged and participated in a foster parent program. She enjoyed sewing, knitting and embroidery.
Billie is preceded in death by husband John; brother, Charles Lindgren; and granddaughter, Lisa Fielder. She is survived by daughter, Jody Fielder and her husband Rich of Blue Springs, MO; granddaughter, Cheri Shanmugam and her husband Al of San Diego, CA; great-granddaughters, Sarah and Emily Shanmugam of San Diego, CA; and sister-in-law, Marion Lindgren of Lincoln, NE.
Funeral Services will be at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, January 13, at the Speaks Suburban Chapel, Independence, MO. Burial will be at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, January 14, Cedar Dale Cemetery, Papillion, NE. Visitation will be Thursday, January 12, from 6-8 p.m. at the Suburban Chapel. Memorial contributions may be made to Community of Christ Children�s Peace Pavilion or the Temple Endowment Fund, 1001 Walnut Drive, Independence, MO 64051.
