Charles Robert Rotz, age 89, Lee’s Summit, MO passed away Friday August 25, 2017 at Addington Place Assisted Living. Visitation will be from 6-8pm Sunday, August 27, 2017 at Carson-Speaks Chapel 1501 West Lexington, Independence, MO 64052. Graveside services will be 1:30 pm Monday, August 28, 2017 in Hiawatha Cemetery. Charles was born on September 8, 1927 at Leona, Kansas, son of Ralph and Fern (McQuerry) Rotz who preceded him in death. He attended Kansas State College, Manhattan, Kansas. He served in the United States Navy 1945-1946 and also in the United States Army from 1952-1953 during the Korean War, spending one year in Germany. He was a traveling salesman for Virco Manufacturing Company for 20 years. He traveled four states selling office furniture until he retired in 1982. He enjoyed the winter months as a Winter Texan staying at Fun & Sun R.V. Park near Brownsville. He and his wife traveled many miles in their fifth wheel camper throughout the United States. He was a member of Christ United Methodist Church, Independence, Missouri. He was a member of the Independence Lodge No. 76 AF and AM, Independence, Missouri and received his 50 year membership pin in 1999. He was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years Vivian Veach Rotz. Survivors include two daughters, Cindy Terry and husband Bill, Lee’s Summit, Missouri, Lisa Brown-Waldron Gainsville, Georgia, four grandchildren Matthew and Devin Brown and Jonathan (Stephanie) and Jason (Megan) Terry and 3 great grandchildren. He is survived by two sisters, Joy Bauman and Kay Wilkes and sister Beverly McKee preceded him in death. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Christ United Methodist Church.
