Pauline Rowan, 92, passed away Monday, August, 13, 2012. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, August, 17, 2012 at Speaks Suburban Chapel 18020 E 39th St. Independence MO. Visitation will be from 6:00- 8 p.m. Thursday August 16th at the chapel. Interment at Mound Grove Cemetery.
Pauline was born in a sod house in Vernon, CO to R. Nephi and Dora (Kester) Flowers. Their family moved to Lamoni IA where Pauline attended Lamoni High School and Graceland College. She lost her first husband LeRoy Runkle in 1958, but later remarried to John Rowan who passed in the early 1980’s. Her most recent years were spent living with her daughter and caring for her great grandchildren here in Independence. Pauline worked many years at Herald House publishing and retired from Mid-Continent Public Library in 1985. She was an advocate and volunteer for the Laurel Club of the Community of Christ Auditorium, where she served many meals for the community. Pauline’s family will be forever reminded of her baking every time they smell a fresh loaf of bread.
She is survived by her daughter, Joyce Griffith (Bill), Independence, MO; grandsons, Dale Ingwersen (Mandy) and Jeff Ingwersen (Tammy), all of Iowa; granddaughters, Jodi Howard, Iowa, Connie Barker, Kansas City, MO; 10 Great Grandchildren; and sisters, Dorothy Gutgsell (Mark), Idaho, and Arline Sampson (Bob), Iowa.
