Paul Runion, 63, of Independence, MO passed away on Thursday, May 17, 2018 after a brief battle with cancer. A visitation will be held from 6-8pm on Monday, May 21 at Speaks Suburban Chapel 18020 E. 39th St, Independence, MO, 64055. A service will be held at 10am on Tuesday, May 22 at the chapel, with his brother-in-law Reverend Jim Richards officiating.
Paul was born on September 23, 1954 in Kansas City, MO to Paul L. and Betty (McGuire) Runion. He graduated from Van Horn High School. He also attended Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. He worked as an over-the-road truck driver and in his spare time he enjoyed gardening, hunting, fishing, yardwork, reading his Bible, home and auto repair. Most of all he loved spending time with his three kids. Paul was a member of Country Meadows Baptist Church and served as a missionary in Venezuela.
He will be greatly missed by his son Zachary Runion of Independence, MO; daughter Camille Runion of Independence, MO; his mother Betty Runion of Independence, MO; sister Paula Joiner of Spring, TX; brother Tom Runion and wife Kristy of Lamar, MO; sister Susan Richards and husband Jim of Kingsville, MO; plus several nieces, nephews, and other extended family members.
He was preceded in death by his niece Amy Beth Robinson in 1976, daughter Kendahl Runion in 1997, and father Paul L. Runion in 2014.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Children’s Mercy Cancer Center in memory of Kendahl Dawn Runion.
