The world lost a remarkable soul. Russell Todd Wiley (Russ) was born on May 30, 1984, in Independence, Missouri, and passed away on July 19, 2024, in Collins Missouri while riding in his big boy toy, having the time of his life.
Russ graduated from William Chrisman High School and earned his Associate in Arts from Metropolitan Community College. He spent many years working for Quik Trip where you could always find him in his khaki cargo shorts (whether working or not). Russ left to become a Meter Reader for Independence Power and Light and transitioned to a Utility Field Service Worker.
Russ married Michelle, the “Love of his Life” in 2007. Russ and Michelle were the perfect match. The way their strengths and weaknesses balanced each other was pure perfection. They welcomed their first daughter Alexis, in February of 2014 and then in December of 2015 they were blessed with their second daughter, Peyton. Russ was an amazing “girl” daddy. He never missed any of the girls’ performances, loved coaching Alexis’ softball team (was a rockstar pitcher during her “Coaches Pitch” years), and Daddy was Peyton’s favorite taste tester when she came home from cooking class. Even bedtime was fun at the Wiley’s, after prayers and cuddles there was always a ritual of, I love you and I LOVE YOU INFINITY AND BEYOND! Russ’ greatest accomplishment was his family, he always put his family first.
Russ had a love for the outdoors and adventure. He enjoyed hunting, camping, riding 4 wheelers and side by sides. Russ and Michelle had purchased land and began building a cabin almost immediately. For Russ this was truly a labor of love, and he couldn’t wait for his family and friends to spend the weekends creating memories.
Russ had the best friends; they are more than friends, they are family, they are the “Cool Adventure Kids”. They spent many weekends together camping, riding, vacations, birthdays, New Year’s Eve parties and Super Bowl parities. Scooter gang for life! (If you know, you know).
Russ was the epitome of living life to the fullest. “Go big or go home!”
Russ’ passing is preceded by his paternal Grandparent’s; Lewis and Fern Wiley, his maternal Grandparents; David and Elaine Fetters. His legacy will live on through his wife; Michelle, his precious daughters; Alexis and Peyton, his parents; Russ and Donna Wiley, his brother; Jeremy Wiley (Devin), his In-laws; Warren and Tammy Terry, his brother-in-law; Jeremy Terry (Wendy) as well as many extended family members and friends.
Russ was never known to “dress fancy”. Please family and friends…come as you are.
