William Russell, 99 of Independence, MO, passed away, June 1, 2014 at his residence. Cremation is planned with private family services to be held at a later date. William was born October 20, 1914 in Independence, MO to William Madison and Marion Ivy (Hinde) Russell and has been a lifelong area resident. He had worked as a bus driver for Greyhound Bus Company for over 35 years until he retired in 1973. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge #76 and the VFW in Independence, MO. He proudly served in the US Army during WWII. He enjoyed duck hunting and fishing. He was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church in Independence, MO. He was preceded in death by his wife Anna Lee Russell in 1987. Survivors include; a son, Michael D. Russell of Independence, MO; 2 grandchildren, Debra Banks and Sheri Russell and 3 great grandchildren, Crescent Ogren, Simon Ogren and Abigail Banks.
