John Joseph Ryan

John Joseph Ryan, of Blue Springs, MO, passed away on Tuesday, April 13th, 2021. He was 76 years old. A memorial visitation will be held from 6-8pm beginning with full military honors on Wednesday, April 21st at Speaks Suburban Chapel, 18020 E 39th St., Independence, MO 64055.

John was born on November 13, 1944, to Thomas F. and Katherine T. (Shea) Ryan in Kansas City, MO. He attended St Francis Xavier School, Rockhurst High School, and then Rockhurst University. John proudly served in the U.S. Army from 1966-1968 during the Vietnam War. He worked mainly as a highway designer at Missouri Highway Transportation Department for 30 years, from 1970-2000, then at DRG from 2000 until 2009 also as a highway designer.

Throughout his years, albeit a quiet man, John enjoyed grilling, spending time with his family, watching old movies, or relaxing on his back patio listening to music. John will be greatly missed by all who know and love him.

He is preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Kitty Ryan.

He leaves behind four children, Kerry Weidler, Chrissy Bush, Joe Ryan and Katie Waner; grandchildren, Joe Weidler, Ryan Weidler, Tristan Tabaracci, Alex Tabaracci, Isabella Bush, Emmett Waner and Amelia Waner; his brother, Thomas F. (Beth) Ryan, and he spent the last 12 years with the love of his life, Blanche Schmeltz. John loved and adored her children as well.
