Joseph Salonimer

January 6, 1922 — June 8, 2004

Joseph R. Salonimer, husband of Norrene (Farley) Salonimer, of Independence, MO passed away on Tuesday, June 8, 2004 at the Independence Regional Health Center. Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, June 14, at the Speaks Suburban Chapel. The visitation will be held directly ahead of the service from 9-10:00 a.m. in the chapel. The burial will be held at Mound Grove Cemetery. Joseph was born on January 6, 1922 in Detroit, Michigan to Phillip and Maude (Parrish) Salonimer. He was a veteran of WWII, where he served as a 1st Lieutenant in the Army Air Force flying the P38 aircraft. He went on to work many years as a mechanical engineer for General Motors, Terex Division. Joseph sang in the Messiah Choir for over 10 years, which he loved so much. He was a High Priest in the Community of Christ Church. He was preceded in death by his first wife of 40 years, Margaret J. (Hoyt) Salonimer. Joseph is survived by his two daughters, Hemdah Salonimer-Horner with husband John, and Rinnah Skoor with husband Robert; one son, Jonathan Salonimer with wife Teresa; one step-daughter, Elizabeth Draper with husband Dale; and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.
