Orval W. Salter

September 12, 1918 — March 22, 2004

Orval W. Salter, 85, Independence, Mo. died March 22, 2004, at Regency Care Center. A memorial service will be held 10:30 am, Sat., March 27, 2004 at Beacon Heights Community of Christ Church. Committal services will be private. Visitation will be 7-8:30 pm, Friday at Speaks Suburban Chapel. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to help Donna Mireles, who is battling cancer. Contributions should be sent c/o Sandy�s Restaurant, 301 N. 291 Hwy., Indep., Mo. 64056. Mr. Salter was born Sept. 12, 1918 in McKenzie, AL, and had lived in Independence since 1950. He was a carpenter and an Army veteran of WW II. He was a Deacon at the church. He enjoyed fishing and the friendship and love of the patrons and staff of Sandy�s Restaurant. He is survived by daughter, Doris F. Mengel; Canon City, CO; daughter, Cheryl Walls, Indep., MO; brother, Thomas Salter, Roanoke, VA; brother, Jerry Salter, Indep., MO; three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
