David Salva

August 25, 1941 — November 22, 2013

On November 22, 2013 David Matthew Salva passed away with loving hands upon him. David was born August 25, 1941 to John and Helen Salva in Sugar Creek, Missouri. He had a loving childhood in this Slovak/Catholic home.
In his early years David attended St. Ann’s Catholic Grade School and St. Mary’s Catholic High School. David attended Conception Abbey for a short while, then Rockhurst College until finding his academic home, the University of Kansas. David received a Bachelor of Science degree in Education in 1962. He went on to receive a Master’s of Arts degree in Psychology in 1965 and then finally David received a Doctor of Philosophy degree in Psychology from KU in 1968.
On August 17, 1963, David and Mary Quigley were married. A lovely ceremony and a beautiful bride set the tone for the next 50 years. The bride and groom were surrounded by the same close friends and family of today. David and Mary would then raise three daughters, Kelly, Susan and Beth with all the love a family could ever wish for. KU Basketball, fishing trips, family events, organic gardening, and his strong religious convictions, are just a few of the fond memories the David and Mary family of five will cherish forever.
David had an outstanding impact on many during his years as a Doctor of Psychology. He touched many veterans at the VA Hospital. He loved working in this environment and was motivated to reach out to the Vietnam Vets. David later became a business consultant and President of United States Semiconductor Corporation. His vision and confidence was unstoppable. He was passionate and inspirational to all he encountered.
David is survived by his wife Mary and his daughters and their families, Kelly and Roy Stilley, Susan and James Gibson, and Beth and Jerome Boresow. David had nine grandchildren; Rebecka, Matthew, Mary, Jonathan, Ashlen, Katherine, Alexander, Sara, Sophia and one great grandchild, Anderson. David also leaves behind four brothers, Stanley Salva, Robert Salva, Vincent Salva and Gary Salva. David was fortunate to have a large extended family. David was blessed to have several dear friends who will miss him greatly.
