Samita Oli Vaoifi, affectionately known as Oli, departed this world on February 27, 2025, in Buckner, Missouri, at the age of 65. Born on July 2, 1959, in the beautiful landscapes of Apia, Samoa, Oli's life was a tapestry woven with love, laughter, and cherished memories that he shared with family and friends.

 

Oli dedicated much of his working life to being a bailer at Green Bay Packaging, formerly known as SMC Packaging, where he earned respect for both his work ethic and his ability to bring joy to those around him. His hearty laughter and friendly demeanor were hallmarks of his personality, allowing him to connect genuinely with everyone he encountered.

 

A true embodiment of love and family, Oli was known for his unwavering generosity, particularly towards the neighborhood children. Many fondly remember how he would shower them with ice cream and pocket money, earning the title of “grandpa” in their hearts. He had a remarkable ability to make anyone feel special, always encouraging those around him to embrace life to the fullest.

 

Oli’s interests were a reflection of his vibrant spirit; he was a devoted Kansas City Chiefs fan and enjoyed the camaraderie found around a pool table. His pride in his Samoan heritage was evident, infusing every aspect of his life with a rich cultural legacy that he proudly carried with him.

 

Surrounded by love in his final moments, Oli leaves behind a legacy of warmth and joy. He is survived by his beloved wife, Rhonda (Humbird) Vaoifi: children, Sheyanna Coltharp, Lisa Robertson, Shayla Coltharp: grandchildren, Joseph Coltharp, Aiden Coltharp, Jasmine Bailey, Heather Bailey, Airic Coltharp, and soon to enter this world is Baby Lakey. and siblings who will forever hold him close in their hearts. Extended family and friends, also cherish the indelible mark he made in each of their lives. He is preceded in death by his father, Samita P. and stepmother, Tuitoga, of Independence Mo.; brothers Vince Tauiautusa of Utah, Samita (Jr.) of Hawaii, and Ieremia Taumaia of Samoa; Grandson, Henry Bailey. Also, stepfather, Pale Taumaia of Samoa. His surviving Mother is Lesina (Ierome) Taumaia of Samoa. His siblings are Pauline Vaoifi Key, Tigilau Vaoifi, Lauofo Vaoifi, Sanitoa Vaoifi, Seneueta Taumaia, Poitava Taumaia, Isaiah Taumaia, Pelasio Taumaia, Taumaih Taumaia.

 

 

Oli’s passing has left a void that cannot be filled, but the countless memories of his loving heart and full-of-life spirit will continue to inspire and uplift those who were fortunate enough to have known him. His laughter will echo in the hearts of many, and his loving spirit will remain a guiding light for all. As we say goodbye, we celebrate a life well lived, a soul that touched us deeply, and a grandpa to all who were blessed to cross his path.


Cremation is planned with a Celebration of Life to be held Saturday, March 15, 2025 at 11am and will take place at 11am at Community Christ Church 1001 S. Sibley St (BB Hwy) Buckner, MO 64016
