Fesilafai Sauni, of Independence, Missouri, passed away Saturday, January 8, 2022, she was 63 years old.
Fesilafai was born on November 11, 1958, in Malaeloa, American Samoa. The daughter of Saufua Fonoti Manumaleuna & Maloloto Tuitasi . She graduated high school in Hawaii from Kahuku High School the class of 1976. It was there where she met and fell in love with Amata Sauni, they were later married in 1975, from their union she had 5 children. In 1997 she and her family moved to Independence, Missouri in 1996, where she worked in the bakery at Sam’s Club before retiring.
Fesilafai was so wonderful to so many people. She was known by her great smile and her big heart. There is nothing more she loved than to bake and cook for her family and then watch her family and friends gather and enjoy her good food and each other’s company. You could often find her and Amata dancing, a pastime they loved to enjoy with each other. Fesilafai will be dearly and deeply missed.
Fesilafai is survived by her husband, Amata Sauni; children, Jeanette Sauni, Sema (Aaron) Tapusoa, Fiapai (Danelle) Sauni-Zollar, Angel (Jason) Pea, Amata (Mata) Sauni, Jr.; 19 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; 10 siblings; many nieces, nephews, extended family, and dear friends. She is preceded in death by her parents and 2 brothers.
A funeral service will take place Saturday January 15, 2022 at 10am and will be held at LDS Stake Center in Independence, Missouri. Fesilafi will be laid to rest following her service in Woodlawn Cemetery, Independence, Missouri.
