Helen Jean Savage, 80 of Independence, MO passed away Friday, August 24, 2012 at Carmel Hills Living Center. Cremation is planned with a memorial service to be held at 7:00 p.m., Thursday, August 30, 2012 at the Speaks Suburban Chapel 18020 E. 39th St., Independence, MO 64055. The family will greet friends from 6:00 p.m., until service time Thursday at the chapel. Private inurnment will be in Oak Ridge Memory Gardens. Donations may be made in her name to the Odyssey Hospice. Jean was born July 1, 1932 in Crocker, MO to Willard Marion and Alma Jane (Robertson) Hazelrigg and has been a longtime Independence resident. She was a beloved wife, mother and homemaker who enjoyed crafts, reading and word search puzzles. She was a life member of the PTA and very active during her children’s school years. She is survived by; her children, Denny Savage and wife Pamela of Independence, MO and David Savage and wife Janie of Warsaw, MO, Dinah Dyer of Blue Springs, MO and Dale Savage and wife Karla of Independence, MO; a sister, Barbara Bland of Independence, MO; 2 sisters in law, Patty Hazelrigg of Blue Springs, MO and Fritzi Hazelrigg of Sugar Creek, MO; a brother and sister in law, Kenneth Savage and wife Virginia of Parsons, KS; 11 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Savage in 1993.
