Timothy Eric Savage was born December 5, 1955 at McKay Memorial Hospital in Soap Lake, Washington. He passed away of natural causes on Tuesday, September 4, 2018 at his home in Independence, Missouri.
Eric was the third child of Kenneth E. Savage and Virginia L. (Chandler) Savage.
He attended the Soap Lake School system from kindergarten through high school. He had perfect attendance. He graduated in 1974 as co-Salutatorian. He was named Outstanding Senior and he attended Boys State. Eric receive3d sports awards too numerous to mention here. He lettered in baseball, basketball, football, track and tennis. As a starting Quarterback, he never lost a game and led his team to two state championships. He also played the trombone in the band and played the piano and guitar for church.
In 1974, Eric attended Graceland College, Lamoni, Iowa where he played varsity baseball. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree majoring in Nursing.
His first nursing position was as an ER nurse for Menorah Medical Center in Overland Park, Kansas (1979-1980). He then moved to Seattle, WA where he worked as an ER nurse for West Seattle General Hospital from 1980-1985. He was also an “on call” nurse for Advanced Life Support Transport at Shepard Ambulance Service in Seattle, WA.
Eric then returned to the Kansas City area where he worked as an ER nurse for Liberty Hospital in Liberty, Mo. for the next 29 years (1985-2014). He retired in June, 2014.
During his working years, Eric volunteered at church camps serving as camp nurse, camp counselor, teaching classes and playing guitar in praise bands. He also volunteered for a number of years at the Children’s Peace Pavilion teaching “Peace for me, Peace for us, Peace for the planet and Peace for everyone.”
He was an excellent photographer focusing on flowers, animals and birds. He was passionate about fishing for trout, bass and other fish. And when deer season opened, Eric always provided venison that fed his family and friends. He enjoyed attending and watching all kinds of college and professional sports her in the Kansas City area.
Eric was preceded in death by his father, Kenneth E. Savage. He is survived by his mother, Virginia L. (Chandler) Savage; brother, Greg Savage (Becky); Sister, Thresa (Savage) Harney; 3 nieces; a nephew; as well as numerous cousins.
