Savannah Marie Spoon

November 26, 1985 — April 11, 2025

Savannah Marie Spoon (neé Bradley) passed away unexpectedly at home on the morning of April 11th, 2025. Savannah was welcomed by her parents, Dianna Clark and James Bradley, on November 26th, 1985. Savannah was the eldest child for both parents, and was a happy, healthy, and inquisitive baby by all accounts. When Savannah was 7, her stepfather, James (Jimmy) Slusher, joined the family when he and Savannah’s mother married in May of 1993. Jimmy and Diana helped to foster a close family unit, and Savannah loved them both beyond measure.

Savannah grew up in Independence, MO, where she enjoyed spending time with and caring for her 5 younger siblings (Josh Bradley, Mason Bradley, Taylor Slusher, Chanelle Clark and Morgan Slusher). Savannah often said when asked about her siblings that those were her babies, and she held them very close to her heart. Almost a lifelong resident of Independence, Savannah attended Truman High School, graduating in 2004. During her high school years, Savannah played softball, making the junior varsity team three years, was president of Truman Women’s Choir/ Glee Club, and managed the men’s wrestling team. Savannah possessed an artistic streak as well, and had a special gift for photography, and enjoyed taking courses in advanced arts. Savannah was often called a social butterfly, and cultivated friendships with a variety of students within the student body; many of whom became lifelong friends.

After graduation, Savannah began her career as a machinist at ATK Lake City in Blue Springs, MO. During her ten-plus-year tenure at Lake City, Savannah rose through the ranks quickly, achieving roles in leadership and joining the machinists’ union. She advocated for employee rights, better benefits, increased health standards, and was described as a hard worker who eased tensions with a smile and a joke. In 2009, Savannah was blessed with her eldest daughter, Ashlynn Marie Bradley. Ashlynn is often described as Savannah’s mini-me, and the two had a bond which is indescribable.

Savannah met her husband, Patrick Kenneth (PK) Spoon Sr. in 2008. Originally, the two were friends who enjoyed nights out together and bonded over their love for tattoos. When Savannah had Ashlynn, PK was there and immediately stepped into the role as Dad. The family grew once more when Savannah had her second daughter, Zoe Janil Faye Spoon, in early 2016. Ashlynn and Zoe shared some of their favorite memories of their mother, recounting fun times shopping, singing their favorite songs in the car, sharing their favorite mobile games with one another, and eating countless bottles of Ranch with Savannah’s favorite meal, chicken strips and loaded fries.

PK and Savannah married on September 16th, 2017. The two were surrounded by friends and family at the dock behind Bass Pro Shop when they said ‘I do’ and were committed to raising their girls to be strong, smart, and independent ladies; qualities which shine through both, Ashlynn and Zoe.

Later, Savannah held positions at Hallmark, Amazon, Honeywell-Kansas City Campus, SBC Probiotics, and Truman Medical Center-Lakewood Campus. She is described by coworkers and friends as playful, comical, a go-getter, caring, dedicated to those she cares about, independent, hard-headed, fiery, and loving.

Savannah has a soft spot for animals, particularly dogs. She often reminisced about her favorite puppies, Tank, Sophie, and Chapo. Savannah was quick with a smile at the mention of the family cat, Wally. Even though she was allergic to every other cat, Wally was special and was often beside her, never causing any issues.

Throughout her life, her number one focus was her daughters. Savannah’s love for the girls is immense, and they were her reason for persisting. Although Savannah and PK separated in May of 2023, they were committed to raising the girls as a united front. Savannah was supportive of the relationship the girls shared with their step-mom, Rian. Rian and Savannah had rekindled their friendship, having known one another for over 10 years during which Savannah, Pk, and Rian spent countless afternoons together, celebrated birthdays and holidays together, and bonded over their love for fashion, music, and cars. Savannah and Rian had just taken Ashlynn to get her learner’s permit (a few afternoons which were filled with laughter, smiles, and sunshine). All three adults were committed to the girls seeing them as supportive, loving parents, where the collective goal was raising capable, strong, smart, and kind young women. A goal Pk and Rian are committed to maintaining, and making sure the girls always remember and love their mom for the amazing woman they knew her to be. The girls saw the three’s dedication firsthand, and commented many times on how happy they were with the current family dynamics.

Savannah was preceded in death by an infant son, her maternal grandparents, paternal grandfather and her Aunt Candy (to whom she was very close). Savannah leaves behind her daughter’s, Ashlynn and Zoe; husband, PK; step-son, Patrick Jr.; mother, Dianna (James); father, Jim (Carolyn) Bradley; brothers, Josh Mason (Bradley) and Taylor; grandmother, Dorthea Bradley; sister, Morgan, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and countless friends and loved ones.

An open house visitation will be held in Savannah’s honor on Friday, April 18th from 5pm-8pm at Speak’s Chapel on Lexington in Independence, MO. Friends, family, and loved ones are invited to come and pay their respects, share memories with the family, and celebrate the strong and remarkable woman we all know Savannah to be. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the GoFundMe page made in her honor and to support her daughter’s during this incredibly difficult time.

In closing, a note from Savannah’s daughters:

“Mommy, we love you so much. We miss you, but we already see the signs and winks from heaven you’re sending our way. We want to thank you for loving us and always being there in any way you could. We will always honor your memory and hold close the lessons you taught us. We will do all we can to make you proud, and we promise to speak your name and celebrate the amazing woman, mom, friend, and daughter you are. You’re beautiful, Mommy! We love you! We ask that friends and family share photos, videos, and memories of our mom with us in any way they can. Please hug your loved ones a little tighter the next time you see one another. Life happens so fast, don’t forget to show those you love how much you care. Thank you to all for the supportive and kind words and for any donations made in our mom’s honor. Funds will be used for our Mom’s final expenses, to support our transition during this time. Any remaining funds will be placed in college and scholarship savings accounts for us. We want to say thank for the out poring of support and love we’ve already received. The messages and kind words shared mean the world to us. We hope to see all friends and family on Friday. Thank you! Love, -Ashlynn and Zoe”
